This isn’t fight club, let’s talk about it.
Hi, I’m Kylie
LICENSED MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPIST
I specialize in working with individuals presenting with PTSD and traumatic experiences, relationship distress, the specific needs of veterans and first responders, and birth trauma. I believe that while looking to our past cannot change what has already happened, it certainly can guide us in creating a better future. You are not starting from ground zero, you are starting from experience. I believe that through creating a therapeutic environment that fosters a team dynamic, my clients will be able to create meaningful change, improve their relationships, and heal whatever is bringing them in.
I am warm, direct, and sometimes humorous in my approach, and I help clients build upon their own personal narrative of their lives to help them have a deeper understanding of their past, present, and future.
I completed my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at The University of San Diego and also completed a second master’s in social work at the University of Alabama. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in counseling education and supervision at James Madison University. Over the last decade, I have found a systems-based, eclectic approach to therapy, which allows me to tailor my treatment to each client. I utilize Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy as my main theoretical approaches. I like to take a look at my clients whole story, rather than jumping to pathology and diagnoses.
My favorite thing about being a therapist is being a part of the journey and witnessing my clients’ successes. Therapy creates a lot of vulnerability and I appreciate being welcomed to sit with my clients on their hard days.
Outside of sessions, I am spending time with my family and chasing my twin toddlers around. I enjoy reading, traveling and watching Auburn football.
